7am: Shaun wakes me up with coffee! We usually have our coffee by closet light, this time of year that is very dark!
So I turned the light on, cheers mister!

week forty-three, Halloween:
Halloween was pretty great. Not our best year for trick or treaters (due to a cold front, a school night, and the fact that we were one of only 3 houses that gave out candy on our street) but it was a beautiful day and I got to enjoy the company of three of my favorite people, Shaun, of course, and my mom and brother.

Vegan donuts, recipe from Vegan Yum Yum.
Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cupcakes, from the cookbook Vegan Cupcakes Take Over The World. I also made the classic chocolate cupcakes from the same cookbook. I don’t ice or frost cupcakes generally, they’re so amazing without it. Sometimes I sprinkle half the batch with powdered sugar and cinnamon.
Onto the pumpkin carving!
What a week! What a day! I have absolute writer’s ache all over. I wrote 4 sessions and got a grand total of 3,639 words, a photo adventure with my pal Megan, took some polaroids for Polaroid Week & did a little tidying after the festivities of yesterday. I’m so exhausted and sleepy and ill feeling, actually. I hope tomorrow is less overwhelming and I get to play video games, at some point.
I finished up my week of Halloween Self Portraits!
Day Five – Flapper
Day Six – Devil in a tutu
Day Seven – Halloween Witch
We had a great Halloween. We got 165 trick or treaters, beating our previous high from last year, 149. We carved pumpkins and I put together quite a spread of vegetables and eggless eggrolls to snack on.
3639 / 50000 words. 7% done!
Yup! I haven’t posted here since last December. In October I get this creative burst. It’s a little slow this year, for various reasons, but it’s here. It usually starts with Halloween week, I gather together a few costume concepts and shoot one a day the week leading up to Halloween.
This is what I have so far this year:
Day one – Eli from Let the Right One In
Day two – Zombie Tourist
Day three – Spooky Spectre
Day four – Scarecrow
Then, of course, comes NaNoWriMo and November. I manage to update here almost every day, it goes very well and I have high hopes of continuing through December, and then, I just don’t. Will I get high hopes again this year? Of course! We’ll just have to wait and see if I follow through.
In other NaNoWriMo news, I made a twitter to update in 140 characters or less incessantly throughout NaNoWriMo, little victories and setbacks as they happen! Please check it out @wigglewriterly
