365 Self, 2014. Weeks 1 – 4

Week One: Rooms

1. you know my methods. apply them.

2. i would always rather be happy than dignified.

3. i wish i were a girl again, half-savage and hardy, and free.

4. let us have the luxury of silence

5. she said that each of us is born with a box of matches inside us but we can’t strike them all by ourselves

6. there is no remedy for it.

7. arrange your face.

Week Two: Close

8. be as cool and quick to go; as a drop of april snow

9. we quiver before it.

10. so into the woods you go again,  you have to every now and then.

11. if you look the right way, you can see that the whole world is a garden.

12. she blushed and so did he.

13. the map is not the territory.

14. are not there little chapters in everybody's life, that seem to be nothing, and yet affect all the rest of the history?

Week Three: Body

15. if we wait until we're ready, we'll be waiting for the rest of our lives.

16. “don’t you want your heart eaten?” asked the fire.

17. and I asked myself about the present: how wide it was, how deep it was, how much was mine to keep

18. the poetry of motion is a phrase much in use

19.  it’s no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then.

20. now i must give one smirk and then we may be rational again.

21.  love builds itself unconsciously, he thought, out of the momentous ordinary.

Week Four: Orange

22. there was much of the beautiful, much of the wanton, much of the bizarre, something of the terrible, and not a little of that which might have excited disgust.

23. this is my knife. it is very sharp and very eager to hurt you.

24. i seldom discover, till too late, how i ought to act.

25.  my name is like a story

26. it was a day to be inside somewhere, cosseted and loved; by a warm fireside with the clatter of friendly cups and saucers, a sleepy cat licking his paws, a cyclamen in a pot on a windowsill putting forth new buds.

27. she is a perfect cabinet of oddities.

28. she lacks the indefinable charm of weakness.
