Tulsa State Fair, Friday, October 7.

I went out the state fair one last time with my mom, Jan, and my brother, Paul. We try to go together for an afternoon every year, it’s one of my favorite ways to spend time with my family.

This makes me miss fair days of my youth. Back then, my siblings and I put out little stands to sell toys, lemonade and our (undoubted masterpieces of) poetry to earn fare to the fair.

It makes me a little sad that my son won’t have that experience, but I’ll always feel a little bit of that magic revived when I see images like these. So sweet, and beautiful!

Thanks! It was! I actually didn’t eat anything on this afternoon, but my previous two visits (and posts on my blog) have pictures of something I ate (apple fritter/cinnamon roll vendor) or drank (cherry limeade). I usually get a Spinach & Black Bean burrito and a caramel apple!

Thanks! I mostly use Lightroom Presets that I made and I think I used a couple that I found online here: http://www.presetsheaven.com/ I shot in RAW and edited the colors of the highlights and shadows and messed with the exposure, fill light, and blacks in lightroom (though this can also be done in most RAW editing programs). I don’t usually do this much post work on my photos, but since I’ve taken a lot of regular fair photos in years past, I wanted to really play around with these. :)

oooh! I love these. Especially the Ferris Wheel. Thanks for sharing! It makes me miss county fairs from my childhood in Michigan. I hear there is one here in Palestine, but I am a little afraid to go see it. But seeing your blog makes me think I should! Thanks.
